Texas’ defense is far, far improved from last year. After finishing with the 52nd-best defense nationally last year per defensive FEI, they’re up to 12th this year. This is exemplified by the basic stats, as well. Last year Texas allowed a truly-terrible 46% overall success rate including a 51% rate on standard downs. This year, they’re only allowing a 38% overall success rate and a 41% rate on standard downs.
