#7 Baylor (5-1) cruises to a 89-60 victory over McNeese State (2-5) at the Ferrell Center in Waco. The Bears were led by 64 points from the backcourt of George, Cryer, Flagler, Love and Bonner. Bonner and Flagler combined for 21 assists and 2 turnovers.
Positives
- 30 assists and 11 turnovers is terrific especially given McNeese State’s effort on the defensive end. Flagler (9) and Bonner (12) combine for 21 assists and only 2 turnovers.
- Good to see Langston Love knock down open 3s and Keyonte George get on a heater (three 3s in about a minute).
- Liked what I saw from Josh Ojianwuna, nice post move in the paint, knocking down free throws, securing rebounds well above everyone else. Excited to see his development.
- Dale Bonner’s activity on defense was amazing. Only credited with 2 steals but had probably 6 deflections that led to turnovers for McNeese State. Very impressed with Adam Flagler’s defense as well.
Needs Work
- Have to do a better job on the glass, didn’t match McNeese State’s effort in that area.
- Free throw shooting was poor overall (9-17).
- Rotations to 3 point shooters are not where they need to be. Hopefully that gets better quickly.
