#6 Baylor (5-2) fails its first road test with a 96-70 loss against Marquette (6-2).  The Bears committed 16 first half turnovers and fell behind 51-25 at half and never closed the gap in the second half.  Next up for Baylor is a match-up in South Dakota against Gonzaga on 12/2.

Positives

  • Solid offensive performance in the second half (45 points).  Cryer, Love, Bridges, Flagler, George all did some good things in the second half offensively.
  • Rebounding was a bright spot.  30-22 in favor of the Bears.  43% of offensive misses is good.  75% of defensive rebounds is solid.
  • No one got hurt.

Needs Work

  • Lack of competitive fire-  surprising to not want the fight more.
  • Defense is a disaster, fouling too much, can’t keep guys in front, giving up easy uncontested 3 point looks.
  • Turnovers were surprising, way too careless with the ball in the first half (16 turnovers which led to a 22-1 run for Marquette).
  • Lack of hustle after bad possessions.  That film study is going to be painful.  Hopefully a strong bounce back against Gonzaga on Friday night.
