Baylor WBB’s Littlepage-Buggs Tabbed Big 12 Freshman of the Week
IRVING, Texas – Baylor women’s basketball guard/forward Darianna Littlepage-Buggs has been named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Monday. The recognition marks the first awarded to Littlepage-Buggs this season.
Littlepage-Buggs became the 25th Bear to earn the distinction in program history and joins Bella Fontleroy as the second from BU to be recognized this year. The duo has combined for three of the five weekly honors handed out in 2022-23.
The Preseason Big 12 Freshman of the Year recorded her third double-double of the season in Baylor’s 91-36 victory over UT Arlington last week. Littlepage-Buggs shot 50% from the floor, notching 11 points in the win while grabbing a team-high 10 boards.
The rookie leads Division I freshmen with 9.1 rebounds per game while averaging 8.2 points. For the year, Littlepage-Buggs has grabbed a team-high 82 rebounds, ranking third in the conference in the category.
Littlepage-Buggs and the No. 18 Baylor Bears wrap up their three-game homestand at 11 a.m. Thursday against Tennessee State.
