Baylor (11-5; 1-3) notches a key road win against West Virginia (10-6; 0-4) in Morgantown, WV. Keyonte George leads the Bears with 32 points. Adam Flagler (19), LJ Cryer (13) and Jalen Bridges (10 points and 11 rebounds) also scored in double figures to help the Bears get the W.
Positives
- The Bears showed great poise in closing out the Mountaineers. Down 66-65 with under 3 minutes to play, Keyonte George makes a huge 3 and Jalen Bridges makes some winning plays down the stretch to help the Bears notch the victory.
- Loved Keyonte George’s poise and overall floor game, he loves big moments. Most impressive was only 1 turnover against a strong ball pressure team.
- Free throw defense was outstanding particularly in the second half. The Mountaineers missed 9 free throws overall in 33 attempts. Who doesn’t love a good free throw shooting contest?
- LJ Cryer made big shots. If the Bears can get Flagler, George and Cryer firing on all cylinders together, this team has a high ceiling.
Needs Work
- Hard to critique too much about the offense, the Bears are #8 in offensive efficiency and produced 1.19 points per possession on the road. That’s strong, but the ball still could move better to generate open looks. The Bears had to rely on making a host of tough shots tonight.
- Defense still not near where it needs to be. But a win is a win. Next up OSU on Saturday.
