Baylor Women’s Basketball team has been named the No. 7 seed in the Seattle Region with No. 1 seed Virginia Tech by the NCAA Tournament selection committee on Sunday evening.
Baylor will play its first two games of the NCAA Tournament in Connecticut and is set to face No. 10 seed Alabama in the round of 64 on Saturday, March 18. With a win over the Crimson Tide, Baylor would face the winner of No. 2 seed Connecticut and No. 15 seed Vermont in the round of 32 on Monday, March 20.
This is the lowest seed the Baylor Women’s Basketball team has had since being a No. 8 seed in the 2001 NCAA Tournament. This is Baylor’s 21st appearance in the big dance.
The Bears finished sixth in the conference and four games behind regular-season champions Oklahoma and Texas. Baylor dropped its quarterfinal matchup against Iowa State in the Big 12 tournament to enter the big dance with a 19-12 overall record.
Over the last two seasons, Nicki Collen has led Baylor to a 47-19 overall record and a 25-11 record in Big 12 play.
