Baylor Women's Basketball Adds Transfer Guard Denae Fritz from Iowa State
Head coach Nicki Collen and the Baylor Women’s basketball team added another transfer to their roster, this time from a fellow Big 12 program. Iowa State guard Denae Fritz became the fifth Cyclone to enter the transfer portal since the season ended, and announced her commitment to the Bears via Twitter on Tuesday night.
The 5-foot-11 Maryville, Tennessee native missed a majority of her freshman season with an injury, but bounced back to have a solid sophomore campaign for the Cyclones in 2022-23. She started in 31-of-32 games last season and averaged 8.8 points and 4.6 rebounds while shooting 42.6% from the floor and 33.9% from three.
During the three meetings against Baylor last season, Fritz torched the Bears with a combined 25 points, 21 rebounds, 3 steals, and 8 blocks. She will be a nice addition for Baylor and should provide a defensive intensity that was missing at times last season.
