As the 2023 WNBA season gets underway, it’s time to take a look at how the former Baylor players within the league are doing. 

Connecticut Sun:

Two current Bears are active on the roster for the Sun — F Lauren Cox and G/F DiJonai Carrington.

After being drafted third overall in the 2020 WNBA Draft, Cox spent her first two seasons in the league as a member of the L.A. Sparks — who drafted her — and the Indiana Fever.

Saw that Odyssey was released by Wings per terms of hardship contract as Crystal Dangerfield has returned from injury. Hoping Kalani can hang in longer as still two players out with injuries. She's playing really well; double-double yesterday over Atlanta. Teaira McCowan (C) has returned from leave to play overseas.

ODYSSEY SIMS
June 28, 2023

The Dallas Wings have signed Odyssey Sims, the team announced today.
.. Sims' contract is a standard rest of season contract
.. Sims previously signed with the Wings on a hardship exception on June 7 and appeared in four games with the team, where she averaged nearly five points and six assists in an average of 20 minutes of action

Wings President & CEO Greg Bibb stated
"Odyssey is a proven player in the WNBA who demonstrated in her brief time with the Wings earlier this season that she can contribute to the success of our team. We are excited to have her re-join us today."

To make room for Sims
.. the club waived Jasmine Dickey and Ashley Joens
.. Wings also released Kalani Brown from the hardship contract she signed on May 30

Glad for Odyssey, sad for Kalani. When McCown returned from overseas, only a matter of time on her HS contract. I thought she did well, with a few double-doubles. Ashley no surprise, she rarely played.

Kalani was picked up by the Wings for the remainder of the season.

She was on a hardship contract initially, but it's being reported that one of the players she came in for (Lou Lopez Senechal) is likely out for the year.

So both Odyssey and Kalani will finish out the year with the home team.

Sims and Brown both played well today for the Wings in a victory over the Mystics.They are important additions to the rotation.

Indiana Fever traded Queen Egbo to the Washington Mystics. Hope she gets to play more as she hasn't played much lately; she was backing up Boston.

At least she stayed in the league...unlike Lauren Cox. Still baffles me why Cox can't stick in the WNBA when Joyner Holmes can. I know Lauren has a flat jumpshot but her defense is great

Kristy Wallace hit six 3s today ( her record)--three of them within the last 1:10--to come from behind to beat Atlanta Dream 83-80! NaLyssa had 13 rebounds. Great game for the Fever!
