Baylor Softball's Collazos Named CSC Academic All-America

AUSTIN, Texas -- Baylor Softball’s Sydney Collazos capped off a successful academic and athletic season, earning College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America accolades, the organization announced Wednesday.

Collazos becomes the 12th player in program history to receive CSC Academic All-America honors and is the first since Kyla Walker in 2020 to receive the honor. She is one of 13 members on the first, second or third teams with a 3.95 or higher GPA and is one of 12 members on any of the three teams from the Big 12 Conference.

The Georgetown, Texas, native, holds a 3.97 GPA in her Health Science degree, while she minors in biology. She recently took the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and is applying to medical school this fall.

On the field, Collazos hit a career-high .348 with 49 hits and 24 RBIs. She started in 46 games, 29 games at catcher and 17 at third base. She totaled 14 multi-hit games this season while boasting a .418 slugging percentage.

She was honored as a 2021 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team selection and a 2022 Academic All-Big 12 First Team member.

Collazos was selected a member of the CSC Academic All-District team which made her eligible for the All-America honor. The award was voted on by CSC members from a list of All-District honorees.
