Column: Games can be won -- if the defensive playbook is mastered

Defense wins championships. Everyone knows that -- because it feels like the old adage has told us so since the day before forever.

It's a football reference often taken for granted, the classic phrase that only seems to hold its weight after a season is over. In the age where offense sells tickets in football -- particularly in the Big 12 -- defense takes a back seat.

That was how some viewed the Baylor teams of the recent past.
