BREAKING: Former Army All-American, Clemson OL headed to Baylor

Former U.S. Army All-American and Clemson offensive lineman Jake Fruhmorgen will transfer to Baylor for the fall semester to complete his college football career, SicEm365 has learned. Originally part of Clemson's 2015 class, Fruhmorgen will redshirt in 2017 before being able to compete on the field for the Bears in 2018 and 2019.

SicEm365 originally reported the possibility of Fruhmorgen landing at Baylor on August 8. Try a SicEm365 Premium trial today!

Fruhmorgen has been fully accepted into the University and is set to arrive in Waco on Thursday.

According to the national average, Fruhmorgen, originally of Tampa (FL) Plant High School, was considered the No. 120-ranked prospect in the country and No. 20-ranked prospect in Florida. He held offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State among many others.

After playing his first two seasons at Clemson, Fruhmorgen opted to leave the ACC program in January and then transferred to the University of Florida following the spring of his sophomore season. However, days after arriving at Florida, Fruhmorgen would leave the program. SicEm365 has learned that he did not feel comfortable at the SEC program. He did not go through a workout or attend a class.

Now heading to Baylor, Fruhmorgen will provide instant quality depth for the Bears in 2018. As a sophomore, the 6-foot-6, 310-pounder started eight games at right tackle in 2016, one season after starting a single game as a true freshman.

According to Clemson's official athletic site, Fruhmorgen posted 13 knockdown blocks in 523 snaps over eight starts for the Tigers. He earned first career start at Auburn and responded by grading 83 percent while playing all 81 snaps. He also graded 91 percent and had two knockdowns on 66 plays in a win over No. 3 Louisville.

Joining Tennessee wide receiver transfer Jalen Hurd and Texas A&M defensive end transfer James Lockhart, both former four-star recruits, Fruhmorgen is Matt Rhule's third major-impact transfer to add since arriving in Waco.

We don't seem to be targeting JC kids but we seem to be getting some quality transfers.

The quality of the transfers Rhule is getting is impressive. Having guys that can come in physically and mentally ready to play is yuge!!!

Nice. bring a kid with NC experience to the roster, someone that's been there before.

No issues legally or otherwise...Dabo called on him last week to come back if that tells you anything.

It was all personal issues to address and now he is ready to move forward.

He announced he was retiring from football when he left Florida at the end of June. Wonder if he changed his mind about football after leaving Florida or if he just didn't want to say he was transferring after being there just a week.

Started 8 games in 2016.

Question is why transfer?

He also had a shoulder injury at the end of October that forced him to miss the rest of the season.

Not every kid that leaves is a problem child.

Believe it or not, Troy Aikman once transferred out of OU after being on a national title team and Barry Switzer amicably helped him do it.

Sometimes people need a change of scenery.

championship teams are built on championship talent and high character guys. This steamroller is gathering momentum and it is going to be destroying (competitively) things that get in its way.

Well there was a reason , Aikman broke his ankle before the end of the season and was replaced by Jamelle Holieway who was a perfect fit for the OU offense.

Aikman a more Pro-Style QB was a better fit at UCLA and Holieway was a better fit for the OU offense.

There was a reason.

This transfer certainly changes the perspective of the offensive line for next/2018 season...especially considering our discussions of offensive line depth for this coming season. He will will add quality depth...as will a year of playing time for this year's non-seniors.

It seems right after the injury he left the team to deal with a personal issue, so not sure if the injury was serious enough to have cost him the rest of the season or what. Quote from Dabo after Fruhmorgen left the team: ""I will say this: He's never failed a drug test. He's not in any trouble, no team trouble. You can't have a more model player than Jake Fruhmorgen. He's as committed a guy as I've been around, as hardworking as I've been around. He's the model of what you'd want as a player."

The latest on Jake Fruhmorgen

We wanted to pass along the latest on Jake Fruhmorgen and where he will land after his transfer from Clemson.

Jake visited Florida over the weekend. A source told us he had a very good visit. We broke the news of his transfer in December. At that time his dad was already telling folks in Florida that he would transfer. This was not known by the Clemson staff or his teammates at the time. Florida was already under consideration by Jake at that time.

A source tells TCI that Jake is likely to land at Florida or LSU.

Sources told TCI that Jake decided to transfer because of personal reasons but also due to some concerns that started after coach Swinney made some public negative comments about his play in the Boston College game.

The good news is Clemson didn't miss a beat after Fruhmorgen left the team during the season. Pollard stepped in and the Tigers of course went on to win it all.
Apparently referring to these comments from Dabo

Goes into some detail about a really bad game and then says he is everything you want, says he is going to be a great player. Guess he didn't take kindly to this, hopefully CMR takes note and doesn't burn him publicly like this

Bear Rammage probably thought Aikman was too slow to be successful too.

Yes, but this kid is coming off injury too, and had a promising future with a national title team just as Aikman presumably would have had he stayed his whole career there.

Not saying this kid will be the Troy Aikman of OL transfers, but the analogy stands as they are pretty similar circumstances.

But you are right that Hollieway was the perfect Ou QB:

Somebody predicted the other day on this board that in 2 or 3 years we'd have the best OL in the Big 12. Looking more likely all the time.

Did Aikman retire with another team before then transferring to UCLA? I am happy to have this guy aboard, in a big area of need, but I question whether he is really committed. I would not be shocked if he never plays a down.

For some1 who just won a natty he doesnt look very thrilled. Maybe it was just bad camera angle, or captured between smiles. Or perhaps he really needed some food.

Now that you mention it, the Bama player standing behind him doesn't look very sad about having just lost a natty, either
