Baylor Volleyball’s Elise McGhee Named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week
FRISCO, Texas – Baylor volleyball outside hitter Elise McGhee has been named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league on Tuesday.
McGhee, a San Antonio native, recorded 32 kills over the two matches with UCF on October 21 and 22 at an impressive clip of 4.57 kills per set. She finished the series with an overall attack percentage of .342. She also served two aces for the Bears in the first match.
The junior was integral to Baylor’s series sweep of the Knights, handing UCF its first two conference losses of the season.
In Saturday’s match, McGhee finished with 19 kills on 43 swings in the four sets to lead the team. On Sunday, she had 13 kills on 30 swings in the sweep. Across the pair of contests, she only had seven errors on 73 attempts.
Amongst the league, McGhee ranks fifth among her peers in kills per set for conference matches with a 3.88 average over 32 sets with 124 total kills.
As of Sunday, she leads the Baylor squad with 235 kills on the season at 3.46 kills per set. She also has 16 aces to rank second on the team. McGhee is now 15 kills away from the 550th of her three-year collegiate career.
