It's a really good sign how Baylor finished the game. The players actually started playing better in crunch time. That shows that there's a good mental makeup to this team. Winning teams have that kind of mentality and finish games strong. Obviously there's a lot they need to work on, but this is something really good to build on. Drew shined today, he coached up the team at halftime and they came out instantly better.

Excellent points. Also, there not seem to be any panic or desperation. We were behind for most of the game & every time we got close, they answered and stretched their lead back to 4-6. The Bears just kept on going. The last minutes were definitely the best of the game. I hope we see more of that kind of intensity, passion, & grit when we play Duke, Kansas & Texas.

Langston looked great! He will cook as our 6th man, will provide microwave scoring. Love as 6th man is something I saw coming. Nunn is the vastly superior defender so will be able to lock down the other team's best perimeter player to start the game. Love will provide instant offense off the bench can stagger his minutes with Walter and Dennis.

Very pleasantly surprised to wake up to a win. I caught the last part of the first half when we looked at our worst. I barely recognize any names on this team.

I enjoy when Fran is the analyst. He knows the rules very well and a lot of the back story of teams.

I just saw the halftime score on the web 43-34 Auburn. I haven't been watching. I have a new policy regarding Baylor sports. I'm only watching games I'm pretty sure they are going to win. This does not look like one.

I think this policy is going to save me a lot of time and frustration.
This didn't age well.

I'm so glad I watched the whole game, although I was shouting at the TV for much of the game. The last few minutes when we had that big run is some of the best basketball I've seen since the natty.

I think Drew may be onto something by playing meaningful games in historic venues; even if they are at odd times. We are getting a lot of press for playing a challenging game when a lot of teams are playing early season patsies. I'd have to think that although the travel is difficult the players ultimately enjoy the experience.

Other than K State v ISC Monday, last nights game was the only meaningful MBB game in the country until Friday.

Better teamwork, better all court play. Being behind in a game really means nothing when you have shooters, defenders and rebounding. Love this new Baylor team. Congrats Drew and players!

Walter scored his 28th point with nearly eight minutes left. Didn't score the rest of the game. That tells me our depth is so good, we don't have to rely on one guy to get us points.

I'm pumped that we started with a challenge too, but in the end, the top teams all have tough non-conference games. We are about to head into patsyville for a bit too.

Fran's the best. Anyone complaining about him is a casual.

No one comes into a game better prepared than he does, and he's just a fantastic ambassador for college basketball.

I would imagine this helps prepare our teams for the tournament, too. Meaningful games in historic venues at odd times are what March Madness is all about.

It also tells you he's a team guy. We didn't need him to look for his own offense during our run. We had others delivering down the stretch.

It's nice to see such a talented young player let the game come to him.

Yes, but it would be interesting to see the numbers to see if it's much better to start with a game that makes you realize there are no gimmes, then play patsies before you run into a big program again. Compared with opening with 8 straight patsies, run up the score because you're a half foot taller and both physically stronger and more athletically gifted at almost every position, and then get completely shellshocked when you run into a challenging game against guys your size, speed and talent level because you haven't experienced it to that point. I bet KenPom has that hidden away somewhere.

This!

One thing I really liked is Walter was the first player to run over and congratulate when a teammate landed a basket. He does appear to be a team player from what I've seen.

I agree, and even if we had lost, I would have been happy with the matchup if for nothing else than to get a gauge early on in a real environment. I'm pumped about our non-con games even if we get dinged a few times. All I care about is March and April. Growing up as a Baylor fan, I never thought I'd hear myself say that.

Traveling to a location like SD gives the team an opportunity to bond which is huge given the number of freshmen/transfers.
