Baylor Volleyball Earns NCAA Tournament At-Large Bid, Faces James Madison in First Round
WACO, Texas – The Baylor volleyball squad was chosen as an at-large team in the 2023 NCAA Volleyball Tournament, announced Sunday night on ESPN.
This is the Bears' eighth-straight appearance in the big dance, all under head coach Ryan McGuyre, and the 12th overall bid to the NCAA Tournament.
BU (16-12) heads to Lexington, Ky., where No. 2 seed Kentucky is hosting the Bears, James Madison and Wofford. Baylor will face No. 7 seed JMU on Thursday, Nov. 30, in Rupp Arena at 3:30 p.m. CT. This will be the first meeting against the Dukes for the Bears.
BU is 12-7 in the NCAA Tournament under McGuyre and 15-11 overall going into the first and second rounds.
Baylor made it to the national semifinal in the 2019 season and the regional semifinal the last three seasons.
The tournament consists of four regions with 16 teams in each region. Regional play will be hosted by the top 16 seeds in the tournament.
The other four teams in Baylor's portion of the top-left, Nebraska quadrant include national seeds Arkansas and Florida State, as well as Stephen F. Austin and TCU.
The winners of both the first and second rounds will move on to the regionals portion of the tournament.
The Bears are one of seven teams representing the Big 12 in this season's dance. Also playing in the tournament are BYU, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, TCU and Texas.

- First and Second Rounds: Thursday-Friday, Nov. 30-Dec. 1 OR Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 2-3
- Regionals: Thursday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 9
- Semifinals: Thursday, Dec. 14
- National Championship: Sunday, Dec. 17 on ABC (Amalie Arena, Tampa, Fla.)
