30 for 30: #7 Chris Platt — Two-Way Player
WR, Chris Platt (5-11, 173) | Willis (TX) High School
— Baylor's leading returning receiver, Platt caught 35 passes for 567 yards and four touchdowns as a sophomore in 2016. Now moving up to will be one of the primary targets in 2017, Platt's 16.2 yards per catch could turn into a big season if his receptions can increase.
— With Matt Rhule's belief of putting prospects in their best position, Platt is set to play on the defensive side of the ball as a cornerback. It is yet to be seen if it will be consistent playing time or situational, but Platt is expected to play at least in key situations when the Bears need a stop.
— Platt's ability to take the top off the defense will be needed in 2017 with the loss of KD Cannon. It will provide consistentcy in routes underneath if Platt can pick up the slack as Baylor's deep play threat. Platt's 89-yard touchdown reception against OSU in 2016 gave a quick preview to what he can do when given space.
— As you can see in the video above, Platt also shows the ability to find a spot in a zone and go up and make a play. He had a similar play agaist Kansas State for a touchdown where it wasn't pure speed which created the play for him.
— The reason for Platt being ahead of Lynch on this preseason list is his experience and step ahead in production. Platt definitely has the ability to stay on top of this list as Baylor's No. 1 receiver in 2017, he will simply need to improve his hands and limit drops, something that plagued him on occasion as a sophomore.
