WACO, Texas — As Baylor basketball prepares to open the sparkling new Foster Pavilion, Baylor Athletics is opening a new series to inform fans of things to know for the new environment, as part of it’s ‘Foster Forward’ campaign leading up to the Jan. 2 men’s game vs. Cornell and the Jan. 3 women’s contest vs. TCU.

Baylor Athletics is entering into a new era of basketball at the Foster Pavilion, marking the ‘Foster Forward’ campaign, geared to educate and inform the community of the many exciting elements to expect in the new facility.

In a similar fashion to the move of Baylor football from Floyd Casey Stadium to the jewel of the Brazos, McLane Stadium, Baylor fans will be treated to a whole different level of venue experience, the opening of a new era of Baylor basketball.

As part of the ‘Foster Forward’ campaign, Baylor athletics will roll out a bevy of information to properly prepare Baylor fans for the new facility, including parking and shuttle details, venue information and a robust selection of answers to potential questions. Baylor’s athletics leadership will be seen throughout the next three weeks in local and regional media spaces in an effort to communicate directly with BU stakeholders as they prepare to experience the new venue for the first time.

The $212 million-dollar facility will serve as the home of men’s and women’s basketball, while also functioning as an elite venue for the City of Waco. The timing of this new venue could not come at a more exciting time for the Bears, as Baylor is the only school in the nation to boast undefeated teams in both men’s and women’s basketball. The men’s team is ranked No. 6 nationally and the women check in No. 10.

A Letter From Mack Rhoades

In this fast-paced, modern society every few weeks seem to bring fresh opportunities and new challenges. How refreshing it is when change brings about something truly innovative and special – a once in a generation transition.

As we close the chapter on Baylor Basketball played at the Ferrell Center, we are grateful for 35 years of exciting moments, historic championships, and lifelong memories – and we look forward to more of the same at our new home on the Brazos. With great anticipation, we are eager to experience our first games at Foster Pavilion - the new home of Baylor Basketball.

The decision to move into this facility mid-season, was not an easy one. However, with the opportunity to allow our current student-athletes and seniors a chance to open the facility and to set our teams up for success during the most crucial part of the season, the decision was clear.

While we are confident this is the right decision for our student-athletes and basketball programs, we understand it comes with some interesting logistics as parts of the building and parking structure are still under construction. We ask in advance for grace and patience as the full Foster experience will come into view as the season progresses and into next year with the completion of the Allison Development Center, offices and some finishing touches throughout.

In the coming days, ticket holders will receive important information about parking, digital tickets, a newly robust ticket return program and other key changes as part of this historic move. Please review this information and check BaylorBears.com/FosterForward regularly for new information and additional announcements and updates.

We are deeply grateful to the City of Waco for their tremendous partnership in bringing this facility to life. Along with the upcoming parking structure and shuttles that will run from Downtown Heritage Square to Foster Pavilion on game days, we look forward to additional events and activities hosted at The Foster that will continue to enrich the city. We also extend sincere appreciation to Paul and Alejandra Foster, as well as Mark and Paula Hurd, and so many others who gave generously to make the dream of a state-of-the-art Basketball Pavilion a reality.

As we push toward our January launch, we remain focused on completing all of the most necessary items for Big 12 Basketball competition and can't wait to experience the full effect of this new home-court advantage with all of our most passionate fans and students closer to the action and ready to make a difference. We certainly have two deserving teams to cheer on this season!

The inaugural season at Foster Pavilion will be an adventure as we move forward into a new era of Baylor Basketball.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a holiday season filled with joy, warm memories, and happiness.

Sincerely,
Mack Rhoades
