UNLV safety Cameren Jenkins (6-1, 185) has committed to Baylor following his official visit this weekend. After playing his true freshman season at the Mountain West program, Jenkins will have three years of eligibility remaining.

In his first collegiate season, Jenkins finished with 32 tackles and two pass breakups and he helped lead UNLV to a 9-4 season and an appearance in the Mountain West Conference Championship Game.

As a high school prospect in the 2023 class from Lewisville, Texas, Jenkins held 19 scholarship offers from schools such as Arkansas, Indiana, Louisville, Purdue, Texas Tech, SMU, Oregon State, and Washington State.

Jenkins is the twin brother of Baylor All-American cornerback Caden Jenkins.

More good news. I like that both of our portal commits are productive players from successful G5 teams. We need some talented guys with higher expectations to come in here and raise ours.

Welcome, Cameron. We're very glad to have you and your brother on campus.

Safety was a huge position of need imo . Good get! Should be an upgrade over what we're currently rolling out

Not an expert on twins, but since he presumably has the same athletic ability as Caden, that's a huge pick up

It's got to be a good sign that he was playing extensively as a true freshman for a nine-win UNLV team.

A month ago we were worried about even keeping Caden....and now we've kept him and doubled our Jenkinses.

That's one thing I have no trouble giving Aranda credit for. He has done a really good job of retaining his talent. He needs to improve in many, many areas. But in the transfer portal era, he has consistently been among the best in the Big 12 and nation at keeping his players on his roster.

Now we just need to develop those guys, so we can win more games next fall.

So, with this addition we should be seeing DOUBLE in our secondary?

I've wondered if it's because players really like him
Or Our guys have nowhere to Go to get same / more PT in a better program

We've seen a lot of players with limited prospects leave our peer schools and end up playing at the G5 level or riding the bench for some other peer school. When you're retaining as many players as we have the last three years, it's because the players enjoy being part of your program.

There's plenty to criticize Dave Aranda about. But I think this is one area that you have to credit him for. For better or worse, his culture keeps guys in the program.

Caden definitely had options if he wanted it

Do they chew gum???

There is proven NIL potential if they do.

So we go from the 365 forum worrying about Caden going into the transfer portal due to a cryptic tweet, to now not only having Caden but also his brother.

Gotta love this place!

Glad we have both Jenkins now!

Two Jenkinses, now we just need Lee Roy to complete the set.

If one gets ejected due to targeting, do they both have to leave the field?

The players love playing for him despite what the fan base thinks of him. A lot of these guys could move on and play elsewhere but they choose to stay. Also, look at the guys who have left, as evidence they can play elsewhere, they've found a home.

Not all the explanations for this are good ones.

We've lost 13 of 16. How much of that talent do you want to retain?

We're not going to get better by losing starting caliber players. We need to do a better job of developing talent, but retaining it isn't the problem.

If we want to win again, we need to get more experienced juniors and seniors in our two-deep. We'll have a better chance of doing that by retaining and coaching up our existing talent than trying to strike gold in the portal year after year.

You don't want to lose your most experienced or talented players. Period. Even if you recruit over them and they become depth rather than starters, you still want/need those guys in your program.

We don't have many starting caliber players, which is why we keep losing.
Half these guys probably wouldn't start on most CUSA teams
