Postgame Podcast & Thoughts: Michigan State 88 Baylor 64

#6 Baylor (9-1) gets slaughtered in Detroit by a desperate Michigan State (5-5) team that needed a big win.  The Bears were outscored, outrebounded, outhustled and got steamrolled as a result.  Next up for the Bears is a big game with Duke (7-3) 12/20 in NYC.  

Good

• No serious injuries
• Humility, sometimes to get high, you must be brought low and this was a humbling game

Bad

• Outhustled, outrebounded, outscored, outplayed
• Very disappointed in the competitive fire today.  Reminded me of last year’s team.  Hopefully a one game aberration and not a sign of things to come. 
• Defensively, we couldn’t stay in front of anyone.  Their guards got where they wanted.  And rim protection was non existent.  
• I know our coaching staff prepared the team to be ready for a war but we weren’t ready for the war.  

Perspective

• It’s one game against a desperate team that was ranked top 5 in the preseason on their home turf.  Much like the Marquette game last year, we can bounce back and still beat good teams consistently.  Hopefully unlike the Marquette game, this team has a high ceiling as they continue to play together and are ready for a similar fight against Duke.  If they aren’t, the results will be similar in that game.
