Baylor Adds Ohio Offensive Line Transfer Kurt Danneker
Baylor added a commitment from Ohio offensive lineman transfer Kurt Danneker (6-4, 332) on Friday following a mid-week official visit. Danneker committed to Baylor over Texas A&M, Iowa State, Syracuse, Boston College and others.
As a graduate transfer, Danneker has one season of eligibility remaining and would likely fill in at a guard position for the Bears.
Danneker started 28 games at left guard for the Bobcats in his career. He played 884 snaps in 2023 and graded out as the No. 23 rated guard according to PFF, including finishing 20th in run blocking and 95th in pass blocking.
Danneker becomes the second guard prospect from the portal to commit to the Bears, joining Montana State offensive lineman Omar Aigbedion (6-2, 324). A two-year player, Aidbegion committed to Baylor over offers from Illinois, Arkansas, BYU, Arizona State, Texas Tech, Boston College and more. PFF's top-graded offensive guard at the FCS level with an 89.6 PFF grade, including an 89.7 run-blocking grade.
The additions of Danneker and Aigbedion come at an important time as the Bears have seen three offensive linemen depart from the program since the end of the 2023 season. Redshirt sophomore Tate Williams (medical retirement), redshirt freshman George Maile (transfer) and redshirt freshman Tim Dawn (transfer) all recently announced their intentions to leave.
Toledo transfer quarterback Dequan Finn and UNLV’s Cameren Jenkins have also given their pledges to the Bears out of the portal.
The changes on offense since the end of the 2023 season are highlighted by a change in scheme under new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Jake Spavital. The Bears have also welcomed new assistant coaches Khenon Hall (AHC/RB), Chris Kapilovic (OL) and Jarrett Anderson (TE).
Baylor is expected to host additional transfer portal vistors through the weekend. To keep up to date, follow along here.
