Ole Miss Tight End Michael Trigg Commits to Baylor

Ole Miss tight end Michael Trigg is the latest to give his pledge to Baylor following an official visit last weekend. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound prospect was the only tight end visitor Baylor has brought in during the transfer portal window making him the priority at the position.

 BAYLOR TRANSFER PORTAL COMMITS 

In 15 career games over the course of three seasons at USC and Ole MIss, Trigg tallied 28 receptions for 330 yards and five touchdowns. Trigg played 460 snaps over those three seasons with 45 targets in the passing game.

After two strong spring in 2023 at Ole Miss, Trigg was expected to be a major contributor for the Rebels’ offense. He dazzled in both intra-squad scrimmages with 138 yards and a touchdown in 2023 and 89 yards with three touchdowns in 2022. However, Trigg played in just three games for the Rebels in 2023 before opting to sit the remainder of the season and enter the transfer portal. 

Trigg was a four-star prospect, top 150 player in the nation, and the No. 4 rated tight end as a member of USC’s 2021 class. He held 49 offers from schools like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, and Utah among many others. He was also a highly regarded basketball prospect. 

The loss of starting tight end Drake Dabney to the porta and the recent departure of Jake Roberts to the transfer portal gave Jake Spavital the opportunity to upgrade the position with a best available type prospect who profiles as a better slot receiver weapon and has the upside to be an NFL tight end.

With two years of eligibilty remaining, Trigg has the potential to be legit a difference maker in this offense with his athletic profile.
