Baylor added a commitment to its 2024 transfer portal class when Nevada grad transfer receiver Jamaal Bell pledged to Dave Aranda’s staff during an official visit that began on Friday. Ball has a single year of eligbility remaining after playing the first four years of his career at the Mountain West program.

 BAYLOR TRANSFER PORTAL COMMITS

Bell, who is slotted to play slot receiver for the Bears, amassed 801 career yards from scrimmage including 689 receiving yards and 112 yards rushing. He scored four touchdowns.

As a senior for Nevada in 2023, Bell totaled 376 yards from scrimmage on 64 total touches. His 51 targets as a receiver were second most for the Wolf Pack.

Over his four seasons at Nevada, Ball became the Wolf Pack’s all-time leading kick returning, totaling 1,712 yards on 80 career returns for an 21.4 yard average.

As a recruit in the 2020 class out of Antelope Valley High School in California, Bell was a highly regarded three-star prospects with offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State, Utah and others. His speed was well documented as he posted a 4.43 40-yard dash at The Opening Los Vegas camp, winning the fastest man challenge. He also posted a 4.2 shuttle and 34.8-inch vertical.

Ball becomes Baylor’s seventh transfer portal pledge and the second receiver, joining Ashtyn Hawkins from Texas State.

Why do our conference mates seem to get recruits from Alabama and we get them from Go5 schools or FCS.

None of our conference mates are getting good players from Alabama. They're getting career scrubs who could barely find the field in the SEC. And most go on to mediocre or worse careers at their new schools.

Give me productive players from lower levels all day, every day.

Tech just got a receiver from Florida with 21 catches in two years. Am I supposed to be impressed by that? The former Fresno State recruit with 900-plus yards for Washington State last year will be a much better player for them.

Give the buy a break. He spends over 85% of his time on R&P.
