Bears Fall for First Time in Foster, 58-55 to Kansas State

No. 13 Baylor fell to No. 4 Kansas State 58-55 for the Bears first loss in the Foster Pavillion and the Bears' first loss to a top-25 team this season.

In a heartbreaking defeat, the Bears fell to Kansas State after the Wildcats put together a 6-0 run in the final 4:13 of the game. Baylor had possession of the ball down by three points with 10.8 seconds on the clock. Jada Walker had the ball deep in the court with six seconds to play, when she put it up in a panicked fashion. We don’t know why she threw it up, whether it be mistaking the time left on the clock or she thought she may have been fouled, this is unknown.

However, this game cannot be laid on the shoulders of Walker, but she may be an example of how fatigued our Bears looked tonight. Kansas State forced them to play hard for all 40 minutes and ultimately prevailed as the victor with their late-game run when we couldn’t put a stop to them.

The Bears were led in scoring tonight by Bella Fontleroy with 12 points; Dre’Una Edwards and Aijha Blackwell were the only other double-figure scorers tonight with 11 and 10, respectively.

Blackwell also led BU off the boards, coming down with 11 rebounds to post the only double-double for BU this evening.

The Bears return to action a week from tomorrow when they take on Oklahoma State in Stillwater. This game will be broadcast on ESPNU at 1:00 p.m. CT.

"NOT THIS YEAR". That is about as nice as I can express my beliefs about this team.

I'm guessing you're using a NC as the standard? Which is fair. With the previous coach it was "NOT THIS YEAR" a sobering 86% of the time. Only a fool thought this program was going to continue to happily roll along whistlin' in the sunshine after that previous coach left.

No other school that has lost a coach of that statue (based on record) has been able to continue to happily roll along whislin' in the sunshine after the coach left. No reason to ever have expected Baylor to do so, especially considering that just about all or probably actually all of these recognized schools (Tenn, ND, NC, UT, etc.) all knew well in advance that the coach was leaving or stepping down and had plenty of time to prepare. And they are still not back to where they were. We had to pick up the pieces very, very late in the recruiting cycle after most of the transfer players the previous coach had coming in left before the new coach even arrived on campus because the departure came out of the blue and others in the portal and HS seniors had already made their decisions for the upcoming year. And as I recall we only had one HS recruit committed to Baylor and there were reports saying she was having second thoughts even before the previous coach left.

I don't get why anyone who claims to be a Baylor fan needs to harp on the situation. CNC and everyone associated is trying to make chicken soup out of the chicken **** mess with which we were left. Critiques are valid. Criticism just for leveling criticism is unfair to all involved, especially those that are doing their best to keep this program at an elite level. We might not like how things went down or the situation with which we are in. But dissing it isn't helping anyone in getting us truly back to where we were.

I'm with you! Just think he is making too much money here at Baylor to leave.

LOL! A lot of folks on this thread have amended their expectation for this team since they started 14-0.

Ya after a 14-0 start and 4 top 25 wins, I thought this team was legit. Talk about falling off
