Bears Fall for First Time in Foster, 58-55 to Kansas State
No. 13 Baylor fell to No. 4 Kansas State 58-55 for the Bears first loss in the Foster Pavillion and the Bears' first loss to a top-25 team this season.
In a heartbreaking defeat, the Bears fell to Kansas State after the Wildcats put together a 6-0 run in the final 4:13 of the game. Baylor had possession of the ball down by three points with 10.8 seconds on the clock. Jada Walker had the ball deep in the court with six seconds to play, when she put it up in a panicked fashion. We don’t know why she threw it up, whether it be mistaking the time left on the clock or she thought she may have been fouled, this is unknown.
However, this game cannot be laid on the shoulders of Walker, but she may be an example of how fatigued our Bears looked tonight. Kansas State forced them to play hard for all 40 minutes and ultimately prevailed as the victor with their late-game run when we couldn’t put a stop to them.
The Bears were led in scoring tonight by Bella Fontleroy with 12 points; Dre’Una Edwards and Aijha Blackwell were the only other double-figure scorers tonight with 11 and 10, respectively.
Blackwell also led BU off the boards, coming down with 11 rebounds to post the only double-double for BU this evening.
The Bears return to action a week from tomorrow when they take on Oklahoma State in Stillwater. This game will be broadcast on ESPNU at 1:00 p.m. CT.
