Baylor Baseball Second-Baseman Jack Little Out for Season with Injury

Baylor head coach Mitch Thompson revealed Thursday morning that Wichita State transfer 2B Jack Little (So.) will use a medical redshirt and miss the 2024 season with an injury.

“He’s a hard-nosed kid that would have brought a lot to the table for us,” Thompson said.

Little was expected to start at second base and be a big contributor for the Bears this spring. The sophomore infielder was Baylor’s “Pick-to-Click,” according to D1Baseball’s Big 12 Preview.

The Katy native made his way to Waco this summer via the transfer portal. Little hit .250 with 11 extra-base hits and was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team after starting 45 games as Wichita State’s primary third baseman in 2023.

Throughout his young collegiate career, Little has missed time across Baylor’s fall and spring practices, as well as part of his freshman campaign with various injuries. Health will be something to monitor for the talented infielder moving forward.

Returning infielder Cole Posey (Sr.) has also been dealing with injuries, according to Thompson. The expected plan for Opening Weekend is to have Will Pendergrass (RJr.) start at first base and Missouri State transfer Mason Greer (Sr.) at second base.
