No. 21 Baylor Battered by No. 23 Oklahoma 84-73
The Bears couldn’t seem to make anything happen in their midweek matchup with the Sooners. BU was outscored in three out of four periods tonight, only besting OU in the fourth; and even then, only by two, 84-73.
Oklahoma utilized five double-figure scorers to dispatch the Bears who only saw three players in the double-digits. Baylor was led in scoring by Sarah Andrews with 14 points to her name by way of a pair of 3-pointers, a couple field goals and 4-4 from the charity stripe. Andrews was closely followed by Jana Van Gytenbeek who came off then bench and played 31 minutes for the Bears. Van Gytenbeek put up a team-high three 3s, a field goal and two from the line for 13 points. Dre’Una Edwards caps off the double-figure scorers for BU, also with 13 points. Edwards got there by way of a 3-points, four FGs and a pair of free throws.
Baylor was outdone in both assists and rebounds tonight. Off the boards the Sooners came down with it 45 times compared to the Bears 37. Oklahoma put up 13 second chance points tonight.
Baylor returns home on Sunday where they will host Texas Tech at 2:00 p.m.. Prior to the game, the Bears will retire Britney Griner’s jersey (42).
