LOS CABOS, Mexico – Baylor men’s golf wrapped up the Cabo Collegiate on Tuesday with a 12th-place finish at Twin Dolphin Golf Club in Los Cabos, Mexico.

Johnny Keefer tied for 20th, leading the way for BU with a 1-over 214, followed closely by Davis Ovard and his 2-over 215. Stanford’s Michael Thorbjornsen captured individual medalist honors with a 10-under 203 one-shot clear of Ole Miss’ Michael La Sasso.

The Bears finished four shots behind 11th-place Arizona and eight shots in front of 13th-place Rice. No. 6 Arizona State won the team championship by nine shots over Texas Tech.

THE RUNDOWN

Keefer’s final round started with a bogey at No. 10, a double at 11 and another bogey at No. 12. From that point, he played the final six holes of his opening nine at 1-under with birdies at Nos. 13 and 17 around a bogey at No. 15. One more birdie at No. 1 got him back to 2-over, but he dropped a pair of shots down the stretch at Nos. 3 and 8.

Ovard’s tie for 23rd is his best stroke-play finish in the lineup this year. The Frisco, Texas, native began with a bang, carding four straight birdies to open the round. He made the turn at 4-under and got to 5-under with another birdie at No. 3. Ovard scattered three bogeys over his final seven holes at Nos. 4, 7 and 9 to close out his 2-under 69.

Tyler Isenhart shot a 1-over 72 and finished the week in a tie for 35th. The senior opened his round with a bogey on his first hole of the day for the second time in three days. He rebounded birdie at No. 16 but dropped another shot with a bogey at No. 17. He made the turn at even thanks to a birdie at No. 1. His second nine included a pair of bogeys at Nos. 3 and 10 around a birdie at No. 7.

Luke Dossey finished 75th this week on the heels of a 5-over 76 on Tuesday. The senior opened with a bogey on his first hole of the day at No. 15 but followed it up with four pars and a birdie at No. 2. On his final hole of his first nine, Dossey made a quadruple-bogey 7 to drop back to 4-over on the round. He played his final nine holes at 1-over with just one bogey at No. 8 to finish with his best score of the week.

Luke Morgan finished the Cabo Collegiate in 65th place after a 6-over 77 in the final round. He played his first seven holes at even par, bouncing back from an opening-hole bogey at No. 13 with a birdie at No. 16. The senior ran into a bit of trouble on the front nine with bogeys at Nos. 2, 4 and 5, followed by a double bogey at No. 6. He added one more bogey to his card on the final hole of the day at No.12.
