Roach, one of the targets in this transfer cycle, chose Baylor over Kentucky, Arkansas and St. John’s. At Duke, the 6-foot-2 guard was a two-time captain and played in 114 games with 92 starts for the Blue Devils.
In 2023-2024, Roach averaged 14.0 points per game, 3.3 assists, 2.5 rebounds and shot at a 43% clip from three-point range. Against the Bears in Madison Square Garden on Dec. 20, the Washington DC native dropped 18 points and collected two steals in the 78-70 Duke victory.
Known for being a good on-the-ball defender, Roach will give Baylor an “attack dog” in a similar mold to former guards James Akinjo and Davion Mitchell. His offensive efficiency numbers are strong pushing 122 on KenPom.
As a junior, he posted 13.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game while shooting 42.6% from the floor and 34.3% from deep.
With Ja’Kobe Walter (Fr.) heading to the NBA Draft and RayJ Dennis (Sr.) out of eligibility, Roach, a rising fifth-year senior, will immediately contribute as a combo guard who can shoot, play tough defense and run the point.
