South Oak Cliff EDGE Kamauryn Morgan Commits to Baylor

Dallas (TX) South Oak Cliff High School EDGE Kamauryn Morgan‍ gave his pledge to Baylor on Sunday afternoon. Morgan picked the Bears over Texas A&M, giving Baylor a significant head-to-head win over the Aggies.

Morgan also held offers from Oregon, Georgia, Florida, Texas, USC, TCU, Tennessee, and Auburn among others.

The consensus four-star EDGE is ranked as the No. 94 prospect in the nation, which makes him the 10th highest-ranked recruit in Baylor history, according to 247. 

BAYLOR 2025 RECRUITING COMMITMENT LIST

“I got the home feeling at Baylor; the people are amazing,” Morgan said following his official visit. “It’s a place where I can live and grow, plus they want to win. The staff talked about it being a great place for me to grow and develop as a three-year type player. They told me they wanted me to be the face of the 2025 class, and that made my day.”

Morgan’s relationship with Baylor running back coach Khenon Hall can’t be understated. The player-coach connection sparked Morgan’s interest in the program in January, and their relationship gave the four-star edge trust in the staff. Hall was integral to the Bears' pursuit of the top-100 prospect.

As a junior at Red Oak High School Morgan posted 65 tackles, 14 for loss, six sacks, 34 QB hurries, and two forced fumbles in 2023.

He is rated as a four-star, 92.47-overall composite prospect and the No. 130 prospect in the nation.

Hope he actually signs. There's a lot of time between now and when the ink dries. Lots of NIL money and we are dealing with 17-18 year olds.

It's possible however he already held offers from many blue bloods, you'd think those NIL conversations would have already took place with those schools at this point. It's possible they may circle back though to try to round out their recruiting and may throw some more lucrative NIL deals at him right before signing day. I see this as a much different situation though right now than players that have decommitted from us in the past when they started to climb the ranks. This kid already has high visibility to all top schools and has had an opportunity to shop around and so is less likely to be pulled elsewhere by showing up last minute on a blue blood programs radar.

Where we lose recruits is we find the less exposed diamonds early and get an early relationship but then when they finally show up on program radars like Oregon they come in and throw the house at them and it was hard to compete, especially when Baylor wasn't serious about NIL.

Anywhere from a DE to a SS in the old defensive format. Generally, a linebacker sized player in a more DE type position. I played SS in high school, which was an outside linebacker, which Generally translates to an edge in today's nomenclature.

Huge pick up. We really to try to tap into that south dallas/fort worth pipeline. Getting a kid from SOC of this magnitude can do wonders for recruiting

Speaks volumes to the changes we made to talent evaluation and recruiting.

Top talent be a magnet to top talent. Let's hope that's the case here.

We've been recruiting well, and that's nice to see. But I don't blame people for being cautiously optimistic. College recruiting, in general, is a day-to-day business, and we have an added layer of uncertainty with a potential lame duck staff.

If we don't win enough games this season, we'll lose most of our current roster and every recruit we've gotten a commitment from. That is enough for me to take all recruiting news with a grain of salt.

You're the same guy that's going to say, "not a big loss" if this dude flips or transfers. It's not like it hasn't happened many times. Quit trying to throw shade at people. Recruiting is about landing talent, it's not about getting people to "consider" you

Same goes for current players. If the NCAA had any b@!!$ it would grant schools the ability to draft NIL deals with no compete clauses. That would settle down things a good bit.

No sir I am probably one of the only ones who thought losing Winfield nabors and Gipson where all losses these guys are highly recruited for a reason the potential is there Much like last year I thought losing snaxx Johnson and al Walcott where losses but people thought we'd be better off without them.

I want kids who commit to BU to play all 4 years in the green and gold anybody who transfers out is a loss in my opinion
