Ashtyn Hawkins Named to Biletnikoff Award Watch List
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Baylor football fifth-year senior wide receiver Ashtyn Hawkins has been named to the 2024 Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List, as announced Wednesday by The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation.
The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the college football season’s outstanding FBS receiver. Any player, regardless of position, who catches a pass is eligible for the award. Semifinalists, finalists and the 2024 award recipient are selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group made up of 600 prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, past award winners and other former receivers.
Receivers are frequently added to the watch list as their season performances dictate. The preseason list includes 49 players (46 wide receivers, two tight ends and one running back). Semifinalists will be announced on Nov. 18, with the three finalists revealed on Nov. 26. The 2024 Biletnikoff Award Winner will be announced on Dec. 12 as part of The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN.
Hawkins starred for Texas State for the last three seasons, totaling 141 catches for 1,745 yards and 11 touchdowns, becoming the school record holder for receptions and yards in his career. The DeSoto, Texas, native logged eight 100-yard games at TXST and produced a program-best 13 catches in a loss to Baylor in 2022. Hawkins is a two-time Sun Belt honorable mention honoree coming off a career-best 874-yard season. He has caught at least 55 passes in each of the last two seasons, averaging 13.2 yards per catch.
