Four-Star 2026 LB Tank King Interested in Baylor's Recruiting Momentum
Port Arthur (TX) Memorial 2026 linebacker Tank King took an unofficial visit to Baylor during the Bears' 31-3 win over Air Force.
“First off, the coaching staff, I met so many staff members, and they were very welcoming,” he said. “The game was good too. I liked how they play the linebackers. Matt Jones is a beast! He was everywhere. The entire recruiting trip was good.”
His primary recruiter is Baylor linebackers coach Jamar Chaney. The two of them were able to build on the strong relationship they had already established, and Chaney told him why he would be a good fit with the Baylor program.
“We got a chance to spend time with him before and after the game,” he said. “He just reminded me to stay focused and talked about the school, the program, the direction they are going and how I would be a good fit. He likes how physical I am and said I will fit because I have been playing this position for a long time.”
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker posted 138 tackles, 22 for loss and eight sacks as a sophomore during the 2023 season.
King took the trip with his mom, and they got a feel for what going to Baylor would be like. It made a strong impression on her.
“I got to see the campus and met Ed Paris and Anthony Clavo with the player personnel, and they helped with questions my mom had about the academic side along with playing ball,” he said. “She loved it all. We know Brock Jackson too, so she was excited to see him too.”
Like many of the recruits who have Baylor interest, King has noticed the strong 2025 class, which currently ranks No. 33 in the nation.
“They are moving in a good direction, especially with recruiting,” he said.
King is a composite four-star project and a top 150 player in the nation for the 2026 class. Both Rivals and On3 rate him as a top 80 prospect in the class.
He holds offers from Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and Washington, among many others.
