Baylor Volleyball’s Briseño Earns Second Big 12 Weekly Award
WACO, Texas – Baylor volleyball’s Lauren Briseño has earned her second Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week award, announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Briseño earns her second career accolade after helping the now-No. 14 Bears start conference 2-0 by defeating both Arizona and then-No. 14 Arizona State in four sets.
Against the Wildcats, the senior recorded 17 digs. Against ASU, she recorded her second double-double of her career with 21 digs and 10 assists. It was also the second time this season she’s had more than 20 digs in a match.
Briseño is one of four collegiate liberos that have recorded at least two double-doubles this season.
Briseño continues to move toward the all-time career digs top-10, now needing 88 to pass Stevie Nicholas for the No. 10 spot with 1,217 digs. She is currently 80th in the nation with 4.30 digs per set and third in the conference for total digs with 202.
She’s also 10 service aces away from being top-five for career rally-scoring service aces with 81.
