Baylor Soccer Records Draw Against Iowa State, 1-1

AMES, Iowa – Baylor soccer recorded a draw against Iowa State, 1-1, Friday night at the Cyclone Sports Complex.
The Bears fell behind early against the Cyclones after a Baylor corner kick in the 2nd minute, Iowa State netted a goal in the 5th minute to take the early 1-0 lead.
Tyler Isgrig forced the first save by the ISU goalkeeper in the 12th minute and Hannah Augustyn challenged her again in the 22nd minute, but Baylor wasn’t able to find the back of the net.
As Azul Alvarez was forced to make two saves in the first half, BU peppered off seven shots in the first 45, with Isgrig taking five of those shots.
To get things started in the second half, Baylor was awarded a corner in the 48th minute which led to shots by Callie Conrad and Natalie Vatter, but Baylor just wasn’t able to find the equalizer.
Alvarez made back-to-back saves in the 58th and 59th minutes before BU fired back and forced ISU into two more saves.
In the 73rd minute, Isgrig got off the Bears’ best look of the match, but her shot went off the top crossbar instead of finding the back of the net.
It was the boot of Skye Leach that was the difference maker, as the junior scored the equalizer in the 85th minute to tie the game, 1-1 and give the Bears the draw against the Cyclones.

Up next, the Bears will head to the 2024 Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship in Kansas City. Baylor, the No. 10 seed, is set to play No. 7 seed Arizona at 5:30 PM CT on Wednesday, October 30th. The winner of that game will go on to face No. 2 seed Texas Tech on Saturday, November 2nd at the same time.
