In The Web: What 'They' Are Saying About Baylor in Week 12
Coming out of their first bye week of the year, Baylor completely changed the trajectory of its season, pulling off a three-game winning streak. The Bears now hope to keep that same momentum as they head to Morgantown on Saturday after their second bye week of the season.
Baylor (5-4, 3-3) has never won a game in Morgantown. When the opening lines were revealed, the people out in Las Vegas gave the nod to West Virginia (5-4, 2-4).
While the Bears were sitting idle last week, things got weird in the Big 12. Iowa State dropped its second straight game, Colorado went into Lubbock and beat Texas Tech, and BYU needed a last-second field goal to defeat Utah in the Holy War. Here is a look at the projected Big 12 Standings from the folks at Kelley Ford Rankings.
Another set of rankings was adjusted while the Bears were resting up. Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Power Poll was released for Week 12, with Baylor sitting in fifth place but still the highest-ranked Big 12 team in the state.
Baylor is currently ranked 51st overall in Bill Connally’s SP+ Rankings. The highest-ranked Big 12 team by this metric is Kansas State, at 18th. According to Brett McMurphy of Action Network, the Bears are also still on track to earn a spot in the Rate Bowl in Phoenix against Rutgers.
The Bears and Mountaineers will kick off at 3 p.m. on Saturday, and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
