Quick Notes on Baylor Soccer Transfers, Recruiting and Attrition

The Bears have been active in the portal and very proactive in identifying and landing targets at positions of need, namely outside back and forward. The only transfer to be officially announced is former Purdue forward Lauren Omholt. The sophomore is from McKinney, Texas and returns to the lone star state with a Big Ten All-Freshman team accolade under her belt on top of her experience with the Mexican Youth National Team in the U17 Women’s World Cup in 2022. Michelle Lenard believes that Olmholt will bring a killer instinct to the attack. That instinct was, in my opinion, seen almost solely from Ashley Merrill and Tyler Isgrig over the last couple of seasons.

The Bears also appear to have added an outside back from Colorado, Angelina Moschetti, per the athlete’s instagram. Baylor has not officially announced that signing yet. Moschetti is a left-footed outside back who can slot in opposite of Natalie Vatter and free up Hannah Augustyn to take over the defensive midfielder role from departing transfer Skye Leach. Alternatively, Moschetti is a key depth piece that will get significant minutes and improve one of the biggest areas of weakness for the Bears: quality defensive depth.

There is one more transfer target for Baylor Soccer that I know of right now. They are looking at adding another attacking option. Whether that player becomes a Bear and whether they are listed as a midfielder or forward is still to be seen. The staff has been very proactive in their roster development this offseason which — combined with having good options already on the roster — allows patience on determining the best route to filling the gap at defensive midfielder. There is still the possibility of a post-spring transfer for depth or more, but the Bears are in good shape here.

On to the 2025 recruits that signed earlier this semester, defender Emerson Garcia and Midfielder Olivia Hess will both be early enrollees. Their skills combined with getting to spend the spring with the team make them more likely to contribute in games next fall.

The third signee, goalkeeper Sierra Gallant, has the tools that Coach Lenard wants out of her keepers and will join a position room full of competition when she arrives in the fall.

Looking ahead to 2026, Coach Lenard is excited about the top-level prospects that the Bears are in the mix for and she feels confident that Baylor will land at least a couple of prospects that can help the program cement itself as a perennial NCAA tournament team.
