Oregon safety Tyler Turner has committed to Baylor following his official visit on Sunday. He becomes the second safety addition through the portal, joining Northwestern transfer Devin Turner.

The 6-foot-0, 190-pound prospect collected seven tackles and one pass breakup this season after redshirting his first year in Eugene. Across 97 snaps this season, he posted a 67 overall defensive grade per Pro Football Focus. His primary role was on special teams this fall.

Baylor was the first school to offer Turner out of high school, and he even committed to Baylor at one time during his recruitment before ultimately choosing Oregon. His strong relationship with defensive coordinator Matthew Powledge, who went to Oregon for a year, certainly played a role in both Turner’s high school and transfer portal recruitment.

Turner was a composite four-star recruit in the 2023 class, with his highest ranking coming from On3, which rated him as a 93-overall prospect and top 200 recruit in the nation.

Over three seasons at San Antonio (TX) Brennan High School, Turner amassed 242 tackles, 10 for loss, nine pass breakups, four forced fumbles and eight interceptions.

He held offers from Oregon, USC, Auburn, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Utah, Texas and TCU, among others.

Turner has three years of eligibility remaining.
