Positives

  • It was a highly efficient offensive second half for the Bears51 points on 20-29 shooting; outscored Arizona by 12 but had too big of a mountain to climb.
  • The guards played well in the second half offensively, attacking with urgency but not settling for reckless abandon shots at the rim.
  • Baylor should be at full strength for the TCU game

Concerns

  • It was the fifth game where Baylor built an almost insurmountable deficit at half: Gonzaga, St John’s, Tennessee, Iowa State and now Arizona. Against St John’s, Baylor was able to mount a miraculous comeback, but in the other games, the Bears could never get it close.
  • I still think the defense has made significant strides since Big 12's play began, but how do we allow Dell’Orso to get wide-open looks at the basket? There were a couple of kickouts for 3s, but then two wide-open looks (he went 3-4).
  • Offense needs refinement, perhaps it is mostly a lack of continuity. Hopefully, Baylor can get a few wins playing together with the full complement of guys and then have an impressive road trip to Utah, where the guys will be building chemistry. Bears need to go undefeated at home.
