
Baylor WGOLF Holds a Final-Round Lead at the PDI Intercollegiate
ORLANDO, Fla.— Baylor women’s golf expanded its three-shot lead from Sunday to eight shots when darkness fell on Monday in the final round of the PDI Intercollegiate.
Silje Ohma shot a 6-under 66 to jump into a tie for second, while Bridget Boczar’s bogey-free 68 also moved her into the top five. Sitting at 9-under and 7-under respectively, Ohma and Boczar are chasing Kansas’ Lauren Clark, who is leading the pack at 12-under.
At 25-under 551 through two rounds, the Bears lead No. 13 North Carolina and No. 18 Duke by eight shots, with No. 10 Mississippi State lurking nine shots behind.
THE RUNDOWN
After a fog delay, Ohma came out firing, playing her first four holes at 4-under par. The blistering start was highlighted by an eagle at the par-4 third hole when she holed out from 108 yards out. The junior added another birdie at No. 7 to get to 5-under through seven and made the turn with a 5-under 30. Her lone bogey of the day came at No. 12, but she bounced back with two more birdies at Nos. 13 and 18 to get in the clubhouse with a 66.
Boczar also went out with a clean card and an opening-nine 32 after birdies at Nos. 4, 6 and 7. Another birdie at No. 10 put her at 4-under on the round, where she would stay en route to a bogey-free 68.
Sera Hasegawa put together another solid round with a 2-under 70, tying for 11th at the conclusion of play. The only blemish on her card was a bogey at No. 8 as she turned with a 1-over 36. The senior caught fire on the inward half with three birdies in her first four holes at Nos. 10, 12 and 13.
Malena Castro continued her strong play with a 2-under 70 in the second round, putting herself in the top 15. A birdie at No. 3 highlighted a bogey-free front nine as she made the turn in red numbers. After back-to-back bogeys to start the second nine, the freshman closed with three birdies on her final six holes at Nos. 13, 17 and 18.
BaiMai Seema finished round two in a tie for 52nd place on the heels of a 3-over 75. The senior started steadily but carded a pair of bogeys at Nos. 6 and 8 to turn with a 2-over 37. She added two more bogeys at Nos. 11 and 15 before closing strong with a birdie at No. 16.
Jenny Lee remained in red figures with a 1-over 73 on Monday to tie for 33rd, while Mallory Matthews shot an even-par 72 to pull into a tie for 50th.
