Former Four-Star Prospect, Redshirt Freshman Safety Josh Lair No Longer With Program
Redshirt freshman safety Josh Lair is no longer part of the Baylor football team, SicEm365 has learned.
Lair, a former four-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, didn’t see time on the field last fall and redshirted, but the coaching staff had high hopes for his future.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect originally signed with Washington in December 2023, before head coach Kalen DeBoer left for Alabama. Lair pivoted and signed with Baylor on National Signing Day in February 2024.
At Fort Bend (TX) Marshall High School, Lair totaled 52 tackles, 10 for loss and an interception as a senior. As a junior, he totaled 54 tackles, 13 for loss, three forced fumbles, two interceptions and three sacks.
He held offers from LSU, Michigan, Oregon, Florida, Miami, Tennessee, TCU, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Texas, Washington and Texas A&M, among others.
Lair was listed as a four-star prospect on SicEm365, and 247 Sports rated him as a three-star recruit and the No. 89 prospect in Texas.
