For much of the last decade, especially under long-time head coach Gary Patterson, TCU had earned a reputation for developing defensive backs and getting consistent and quality play at cornerback. 

This offseason, Baylor poached one of the defensive masterminds behind the Horned Frogs' sustained success, hiring Paul Gonzales to take over as the cornerbacks coach and defensive passing game coordinator.
