Former Baylor Wide Receiver Tyquan Thornton Makes Kansas City Chiefs Roster
Former Baylor wide receiver Tyquan Thornton has made the Kansas City Chiefs' 53-man roster after spending the 2024 season on the practice squad.
Thornton has drawn rave reviews all offseason and made his mark during the preseason games leading up to this decision.
During his first two games in limited reps with the backups, he posted two catches for 29 yards, but his big statement came in the final game as he got a chance with the starters. He caught a 58-yard bomb from Patrick Mahomes, which solidified his position heading into the season.
The New England Patriots selected Thornton with the 50th-overall pick in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was waived by the Patriots in November 2024 and then signed with the Chiefs' practice squad.
The electric receiver put on a show at the NFL Combine three years ago when he posted an official 40-yard dash time of 4.28. He was initially clocked at 4.21, which would have been the NFL record, but it was later adjusted.
The 6-foot-3, 182-pound wide receiver finished his final season in Waco with 62 receptions for 948 yards and ten touchdowns. For his career, he totaled 2,242 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns.
