Staff Predictions: Baylor Aims to Get Back on Track against Oklahoma State
Inside the Huddle: Keys to the Game as Baylor Faces Oklahoma State
The SicEm365 Staff gives their predictions for Baylor’s (2-2, 0-1) road matchup against Oklahoma State (1-2). Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and the game will be nationally televised on ESPN2.
Colt Barber (2-2) — Baylor 40, Oklahoma State 10
Each of Baylor’s first three opponents' offensive and defensive FEI rankings is inside the top 45 nationally. Auburn and Arizona State are both inside the top 27. Oklahoma State? Neither units are ranked inside the top 80 nationally. This is a team currently compared to Washington State, Stanford and Northwestern. The good news is that the Cowboys rank better than Oregon State. Baylor leans on the running game from start to finish and gets a special teams or defensive touchdown in this one.
Ashley Hodge (1-3) — Baylor 45, Oklahoma State 13
I’m about to have a 2-3 record, or we need to start talking about a coaching search! Road games are always dicey, but this OSU team is a mess. Baylor, be ready to pound and ground en route to a comfortable road win!
Grayson Grundhoefer (2-2) — Baylor 34, Oklahoma State 10
Things can’t get much better for the Bears this week as they get to play the worst team in the Big 12 with an interim coach. This should be a convincing win if Baylor has any chance to be good this season. The Bears are coming off a bad loss full of self-inflicted wounds, and in the early season, Baylor has seen a very tough slate of games. They finally get another cupcake game, whereas the rest of the Big 12 have already played two or three of those. Baylor bounces back with a good win, but I still think they miss opportunities that keep it from getting really bad for the Cowboys. RUN THE FOOTBALL.
Jack Mackenzie (3-1) — Baylor 49, Oklahoma State 17
This will be a get-right game. I know about the Doug Meacham of it all, but 2025 Oklahoma State is not in the same ballpark as 2021 TCU. The Baylor offense will have a chip on its shoulder to prove any doubters wrong, and the defense will build on last week's solid performance. This should be the most complete game from the Bears so far this season. If it doesn’t look like that, it still should not cost BU the win.
Levi Caraway (3-1) — Baylor 38, Oklahoma State 13
Oklahoma State will bust out some trick plays and pull out all the stops to keep things interesting, but Baylor settles in and leans on its ground game en route to a comfortable victory on the road.
Sam Bradshaw (3-1) — Baylor 44, Oklahoma State 17
OSU will come out fighting for their coach. Don’t let them get going, and it’s easy. Let them get a lead, and it’s all of a sudden a tougher fight, but I think BU will control the line of scrimmage and the game.
