Baylor Soccer Collects Big 12 Goalkeeper, Defensive Player of the Week Honors
IRVING, Texas – Baylor senior goalkeeper Azul Alvarez and defender Hallie Augustyn earned Big 12 Goalkeeper and Defensive Player of the Week honors after the Bears’ 2-0 sweep through the Sunflower State, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Alvarez turned in a shutout weekend with a combined seven saves, three at Kansas and four at Kansas State. Augustyn anchored a Baylor back line that limited opponents to just those seven shots on goal out of 32 attempts.
The honors bring Baylor’s all-time total to 69 Big 12 weekly soccer awards, including seven goalkeeper and 21 defensive nods.
Alvarez and Augustyn were recognized alongside Colorado’s Hope Leyba and TCU’s Seven Castain, who shared Offensive Player of the Week, and BYU’s Mia Lopez, the Freshman of the Week.
Baylor continues Big 12 play at home, hosting Iowa State on Thursday night and Colorado on Sunday afternoon at Betty Lou Mays Field.
