Sophomore Hannah Augustyn, playing outside back today, scored the opener and winner for the green and goal in the seventh minute. Fellow defenders Hallie Augustyn, Ava Colberg and Blythe Obar all made last-ditch saves of KSU shots to preserve the Baylor lead as well.

Tech’s leading goal scorer, Ashleigh Williams, scored her 11th and 12th goals of the season to make the difference for the visitors. The goals came in the 24th and 53rd minutes respectively.

Ashley Merrill scored the winner and lone goal for Baylor Soccer (5-3-1) to help the Bears close out non-conference play with a 1-0 win on Sunday night against UTSA.

First half goals from Skylar Zinnecker and Hallie Augustyn made the difference for the Bears in an overall solid performance. Baylor has now won back-to-back regular season games for the first time under head coach Michelle Lenard.

With a goal from open play in the 33rd minute and a free kick goal from long distance in the 82nd minute, the Sooners took care of business against a Baylor team struggling to create and convert offensively.

While not really a preview for USF or Gonzaga, the coach Lenard and players gave us a lot to think about going forward after a successful week.

Newcomer wins Bears’ first weekly conference award of the season

The Bears moved on to 2-2-1 for the year and look to be building some confidence now.
