WACO, Texas -- Tyler Isgrig notched her third brace of the year and the fifth of her career, leading No. 14 Baylor women’s soccer to a 4-2 comeback win over BYU for its fifth straight win and 10th in the last 11 games, on Friday night at the Berry Lou Mays Soccer Complex.

Baylor (10-1-2, 5-1-0 Big 12 Conference) stretched its winning streak to five straight and gave the Bears wins in nine of their last 10 games, all while fighting back from a pair of one-goal holes.

The Bears allowed the first tally of the game in the 34th minute but immediately responded to even the game behind Kai Hayes – and an assist from Isgrig – in the 39th minute to even the game at the break. After BYU regained the lead in the 53rd minute, Isgrig answered just 13 seconds later to firm the match up at 2-2.

Isgrig kept it rolling in the 59th minute, firing another effort that found the net, giving the Bears their first lead of the game. The Bears put the game out of reach in the 82nd minute with a goal from Theresea McCullough.

The Bears – sporting a No. 4 NCAA RPI, the fourth-best goals-against average in the nation (0.33) and ranking third in the NCAA in shutouts entering the game – were just a point shy of first-place Texas Tech and even with TCU. TCU and Tech battled in Fort Worth in a 1-1 draw, lofting the Bears into first place in the conference table with 15 points, one ahead of Tech and two in front of third-place TCU.

Isgrig, a native of Arlington, Texas, netted her sixth and seventh goals of the year and her fourth assist, in a game that saw her deliver five points. It marked her first game with both an assist and goal in 2025, a feat accomplished four times last year, and seven times in her career, including most recently with a two-assist, one-goal outing vs. Houston. It was her third two-goal game of the year and fifth of her career.

Beyond Isgrig’s heroics, Baylor had goals from Kai Hayes, her second of the year, and McCullough, her second of 2025, to complete the final margin.

BYU (7-4-2, 2-3-1 Big 12) suffered the loss despite owning a No. 28 NCAA RPI entering the match. The Cougars entered conference play ranked as high as No. 10 in the polls.

Baylor goalkeeper Azul Alvarez (10-1-2) made five saves and faced 15 BYU shots. BU held an 8-4 lead in corner kicks.

BYU keeper Paiton Collins (7-4-2) entered the night with a sparkling 0.92 goals-against average. She totaled four saves, while facing 15 BU shots.

Baylor hits the road next, traveling to face 17th-ranked TCU (10-2, 4-1) on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Fort Worth.

In the 34th minute, BYU capitalized on a turnover inside the 18-yard box. Seconds after checking into the game from the bench, Matyn Summers-Oviatt collected the turnover from about 15 yards out and finished a goal across the face of the goal and out of the reach of an extended Alvarez for a 1-0 lead. It was Summers-Oviatt’s second goal of the year.

The Bears immediately answered in the 39th minute, as Isgrig fired a corner in from the far side into the middle of the six-yard box. Two BYU players, including Collins, went after the ball in the air but it skidded into the gross, allowing Kai Hayes to find the ball and punch it in with a right-footed strike. It was her second goal of the year and the third of her career.

In the first half, BYU held a 6-5 advantage in shots with each team firing three on target and each keeper charting two saves. BU held a 4-1 margin in corner kicks in the first stanza.

The Bears had a chance in the 51st minute after a run down the near sideline led to a shot attempt from Blythe Obar, who just missed wide on her first shot of the night.

BYU’s ensuing attack saw the Cougs take a 2-1 lead in the 53rd minute. A run towards the corner of the 18-yard box by Mia Goettsche saw her flip it back to Camryn Jorgensen, who found Ellie Walbruch. Walbruch finished her sixth goal of the year to give BYU a one-goal advantage.

Just 13 seconds later, Baylor evened up the game on the back of Isgrig. McCullough moved the ball across the field to Isgrig, who used a quick dribble to create enough space to fire a left-footed shot from about 28 yards out, slipping past a diving Collins at the near post for her sixth goal of the year.

The Bears took their first lead of the game in the 59th minute, as Isgrig dribbled down the far sideline in front of the BU bench and created enough space to loft a right-footed strike from 25 yards out at the corner of the 18-yard box. She chipped a missile that sailed off the mitt of a leaping Collins and in the back of the net past the far post.

In the 84th minute, the Bears put the game out of reach with a goal from McCullough. An Isgrig corner kick was headed up in the 18-yard box, Nyela Calnek got a head on the ball and popped it back in the air, with McCullough finding the ball from about eight yards out and drilling a right-footed shot in at the near post for a two-goal lead. It was McCullough’s second goal of the year.
