Welcome to the 2025 post-week 8 edition of the SicEm365 Premium “Big 12 Power Poll”. Over the last few days, the awesome members of our Premium Forums had access to a simple form to rank the football teams of the Big 12 however they saw fit heading into week 9 of the 2025 season.
Here are the results:
The biggest mover this week was Baylor, which fell a dramatic five spots down to No. 11 after the Bears' bad loss in Fort Worth. This is the worst mark for Dave Aranda’s team in this poll all year after a three-week stint at No. 7.
The Utah Utes also fell three spots from second to fifth while Houston and Kansas moved up from No. 11 and No. 12 to No. 8 and No. ,9 respectively.
Not to bury the lede, we also have a new No. 1 in the Power Poll: the BYU Cougars. With their Holy War win over Utah, the Cougars took advantage of Arizona State’s upset of the Texas Tech Red Raiders. BYU has now completed the climb to the top from its preseason spot at No. 8.
For a closer look at how perceptions of each team have changed throughout the season, take a look at the “Week by Week” graph below.
Also, if you’re someone who likes to dabble in simple statistics, I pulled the min, max and mode for each team. That is the top rank, bottom rank and most common ranking. I did not remove the top 5% and bottom 5% of placements for best, worst and most common here (but I did for the average rank, so sorry for any confusion).
This week's total responses fell yet again, from 34 last week to 24 this week. That is the lowest number of responses this season, so keep that in mind as you peruse the data.
Now, if you want even more numbers, I’ve got them. How about the differences between the post-week 7 rankings and the post-week 8 rankings?
With all of those numbers and charts and graphs provided to you, where do you draw the lines for tiers in the Big 12? Which teams are the premium members underestimating or overestimating currently?
One last question: how did the staff of SicEm365.com do with their rankings this week? Below is the full breakdown of our individual responses to the poll.
