CINCINNATI, Ohio – Baylor football (4-4, 2-3) fell in an embarrassing fashion on the road to No. 21 Cincinnati (7-1, 5-0) by a score of 41-20 on Saturday afternoon at Nippert Stadium.

Quarterback Sawyer Robertson threw for a season-low 137 yards and two touchdowns on 18-of-26 passing. Running back Michael Turner rushed for 90 yards on 14 carries.

In the defeat, Baylor was out-gained in total yardage, 364-to-266, and lost the turnover battle, 2-0.

The Bearcats opened the contest with the ball and marched down the field at ease, with a five-minute, 81-yard scoring possession that was capped off by a one-yard rushing touchdown from Tawee Walker.

Cincinnati added three more scores to take a commanding 24-0 lead.

While Baylor’s defense continued to get shredded through the first half, Baylor’s offense didn’t provide much help with drives being killed by a Michael Trigg drop, an Ashtyn Hawkins fumble and a Robertson overthrow on what would have been an easy touchdown.

It wasn’t until the final drive of the first half that the Bears got on the board when Robertson found Trigg on a slant on fourth and goal. The two-point attempt was no good, and Cincinnati led 24-6 going into the halftime locker room.

Baylor’s offense showed some life in the second half with back-to-back touchdown drives, sparked by the legs of Robertson and Turner.

Trailing 27-20 with 13:40 remaining in the fourth quarter, Cincinnati iced the game with a seven-minute, 75-yard drive, where the Bearcats dominated Baylor in the trenches. Quarterback Brendan Sorsby found pay dirt from 23 yards out.

Wide receiver Kole Wilson lost a fumble on the ensuing kickoff, and Cincinnati sealed the win with another Sorsby touchdown.

Baylor (4-4, 2-3) will return to Waco for a homecoming matchup against UCF (4-3, 1-3) next Saturday, Nov. 1. The game time and network are yet to be announced.
