WACO, Texas – Baylor (5-4, 3-3) broke its two-game losing streak with a dominating 30-3 Homecoming win over UCF (4-4, 1-4) on Saturday afternoon at McLane Stadium.

Quarterback Sawyer Robertson (RSr.) had an efficient day, throwing for 267 yards and three touchdowns on 29-of-40 passing. Running back Caden Knighten (Fr.) had a career-high 104 rushing yards on 21 carries.

Baylor outgained UCF, 416-to-225, and held the Knights to a combined 1-of-14 on third and fourth downs. The three was a season-low in points allowed by Baylor’s defense by a wide margin — the next closest was 27 (Arizona State, Oklahoma State).

The Bears got the ball to open the game and marched down the field with ease; Robertson found tight end Michael Trigg (RSr.) for a 13-yard score where he mossed his defender; Trigg is tied for the team lead with six receiving touchdowns.

Baylor’s offense put together another scoring drive; this time, wide receiver Josh Cameron (RSr.) hauled in a slant for a two-yard touchdown.

The Bears’ defense forced a fourth-down stop deep in their own territory and went ahead three scores, 17-0, on a 40-yard field goal from Connor Hawkins (RFr.). Hawkins drilled another field goal later in the second quarter to give the Bears a 20-0 lead.

The offense looked to add another score before halftime, but Robertson was strip-sacked and UCF added a field goal of its own as time expired in the second quarter. Baylor led, 20-3, going into the halftime locker room.

Both offenses were quiet in the third quarter, with the Bears tallying just a field goal. Safety DJ Coleman (Jr.) tabbed his first-career interception in the fourth quarter, which turned into a quick Robertson to Wilson touchdown to extend Baylor’s lead 30-3.

Baylor (5-4, 3-3) will have a bye week before resuming action against No. 24 Utah (6-2, 3-2) on Saturday, Nov. 15, at McLane Stadium. The game time has yet to be determined.
