IRVING, Texas – Baylor men’s basketball’s Cameron Carr earned the first Big 12 accolade of his career, being named to the Big 12’s weekly Starting Five, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

Carr scored a combined 65 points in Baylor’s appearance in the Players Era Tournament, guiding the Bears to a 2-1 showing in Las Vegas with wins against Creighton and San Diego State.

The Eden Prairie, Minn. native led the team in scoring in the first two games, averaging 21.7 points per game through the week. For the season, Carr is eighth in the nation and second in the Big 12 in points per game (22.7). Carr holds a .552 three-point clip, which leads the Big 12 and ranks sixth in the nation.

Carr has started the season on fire, putting up a minimum of 16 points in all six games this season. Carr is the first Bear since Tevis Stukes (1999-2000) to begin the season recording at least 16 points in the first six games.

During his time in Las Vegas, Carr earned career-bests in FGA (16 vs. Creighton), 3FGM (5 vs. St. John's), 3FGA (8 vs. St. John's), assists (3 vs. SDSU) and minutes played (36 vs. St. John's) over the week. In Baylor’s first ranked matchup of the season against 14/15 St. John’s, Carr went 5-of-8 from beyond the arc and led the team with 27 points, just one point shy of tying his career-best.

The Big 12 selected Joshua Jefferson of Iowa State as Player of the Week and Moe Odum of Arizona State as Newcomer of the Week as well as Odum, Carr, Jefferson, Flory Bidunga (Kansas) and Brock Harding (TCU) on the Starting Five.

Baylor returns home from Nevada and will play at Foster Pavilion in five out of six games through the month of December. BU faces off against Sacramento State on Monday at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN+ for its Holiday Hoops game.
