WACO, Texas -- Baylor football will host Louisiana Tech on Sept. 19 at McLane Stadium, in week three of the 2026 season.
The game replaces the previously scheduled home game with SMU, the final of a home-and-home series that featured a Baylor win at SMU last year. The game with SMU at McLane Stadium will be worked to be played at a later date.
The Bears will have a complete non-conference schedule in 2026 that includes a season opener in Atlanta vs. Auburn on Sept. 5, a home lid-lifter on Sept. 12 vs. Prairie View A&M, and the non-conference finale on Sept. 19 vs. Louisiana Tech.
The Bulldogs are set to play in the Independence Bowl on Dec. 30 after going 7-5 in 2025 with a 5-3 mark in Conference USA action. This was the fourth year for LA Tech under Coach Sonny Cumbie and the second consecutive bowl trip.
Baylor leads the all-time series with Louisiana Tech, 5-1, including a 3-1 mark in games played in Waco. Baylor has won the last two, with the most recent meeting coming in 1996 in Shreveport. The series began with a 28-21 BU win in 1981 in Shreveport.
