Wolfe City (TX) High School 2026 running back HD Davis‍ has flipped his commitment from Kansas State to Baylor. He becomes the second running back commit in the class, joining four-star prospect Ryelan Morris. He is commit No. 14 overall.

BAYLOR 2026 RECRUITING COMMITMENT LIST

Davis signed with Kansas State during the early signing window, right before it was announced that Chris Klieman was retiring from the head coach job. New head coach Collin Klein was announced as head coach on December 4th.

The 6-foot-0, 205-pound prospect totaled 2,789 yards and 33 touchdowns on 267 carries on his way to earning All-State honors and being named District Offensive MVP.

Over his three-year high school career, he has amassed 6,306 yards and 73 touchdowns on the ground, along with 439 yards and five touchdowns on 25 receptions.

The elite athlete boasts some pretty strong accolades outside of football with a 10.74 100m, a 38-0 shot put, a 37-2.5 triple jump, and a 560-pound squat max

He chose Baylor over offers from Kansas State, UTEP, Navy, Wofford, Yale, Cornell, Tulsa, Rice, Air Force and Wyoming.

Davis is a consensus three-star prospect.

Great all around athlete. Averaged over 10 yards a carry. Ran 10.7, 10.8, 10.9 in three different meets last year. 550 squat, 415 bench, 500 deadlift as bests as a junior in controlled powerlifting meets. Has squatted over 500 five times in meets and has three benches over 400 lbs in meets.

Not sure if it's official or this kid's edit guy did it, but either way I like it.

This and the Oakcliff kid feel like recruits that we would have taken in the James Blanchard days. Probably got them for minimum NIL. I like it

I'm not sure what the recruiting strategy should be on HS players these days. If he plays well (and I hope he does) as a freshman a school with bigger moneybags will go after him via the portal. If he sits a year and then plays in year 2, then some school with bigger moneybags will go after him via the portal.

Curt Cignetti has said many times he values production (i.e. one or two years of college game tape) over potential (highly rated HS players). This seems to be gaining traction as new paradigm where schools pay for more mature players who can play now and produce rather than pay for potential.
