Baylor (10-5; 0-3) gets blown out by No. 7 Houston (15-1; 3-0) on its home court, 77-55. The Bears got manhandled on the boards (23 offensive rebounds for UH) and lost the turnover battle (-11) en route to their worst home court loss at Foster Pavilion.
Positives
- Baylor held a 31-13 advantage in free-throw attempts.
- Midseason transfer James Nnaji with some solid activity (3 points; 7 rebounds; 1 block; 124 offensive rating).
- The Bears jumped out to a 14-6 early lead, with good energy out of the gate.
Concerns
- The effort was poor, very disappointing for such a big game. Lots of silly mistakes that led to poor body language and a lack of competitive fire.
- Eleven assists to 16 turnovers, hard to win games with that ratio.
- Got clobbered on the defensive glass (23 offensive rebounds for UH, nearly 50% of their misses).
- Dan Skilling’s injury looked serious to his knee.
- This is probably not a tournament team. I've got to hope Nnaji improves dramatically and the rest of the guys catch some rhythm, and we get on a roll late in the season, but the hole that is being dug is a large one.
